Its been about 20 years since I last fished; as the campsite I was taking my kids to had a little (inland) fishing and so I decided it would be good to get this just to teach the kids and have some fun. WARNING: 15 Seconds after my first cast I got a pretty big fish which snapped the line. So I recommend buying some new "decent" line. Just in case you get lucky. The kit/equipment that ships with the rod is pretty weird and odd so I've mostly thrown it all out except for the line clipper/cutter and the rod holder. I look forward to doing some sea lure fishing one day, might get a decent reel, this reel is very plastic but it generally worked OK. The carry case is nice and handy also.

Don't waste your money on this rod. Broke the first time my daughter used it. It's poorly made, the rod itself is made of plastic, the reel wouldn't bring the line back in. I will be requesting a refund!!!

I bought 4 of these, so our family could get into sea fishing. (Mainly mackerel and foul catching seaweed). Being a retractable rod is a great idea, with bag means an easy drop into the boot of a car or rucksack for walks/cycling. The rod comes with a load of hooks and gear. To be honest I'd already bought some favoured spinners and so didn't use any of this. The rod's are great for mackerel and are a good way of getting 1st timers involved. I'd doubt their suitability for bigger fish, but we have had some great fun this summer with these!

Fishing wire came already connected to the fishing reel. (it comes with fishing wire) fishing wire isn’t that bad, the fishing reel is rubbish The rest of the accessories are great. Fishing rod is kind of durable. Don’t recommend the fishing rod not worth the money.

This set has everything you need to get started. Rod, which is very lightweight but surprisingly extends out far. Reel which works perfectly fine. Hooks bait and floats. I just completed my first trip with it and my 8 year old son, and it is a perfect starter kit for him. Don't be expecting to perform really long casts, but it is fab for his age. We are going to keep it in the car so we can stop anytime and have a bit of fun with it. I certainly wouldn't want to tackle a huge fish with it but overall for the price it's a great little kit. My son loves it

It was pretty cheap so I knew what to expect. It’s got a nice assortment of extra equipment like hooks and fake bait etc… The line is fairly strong but it can easily get tangled when reeling it in if you’re not careful. I’m not at all a pro at fishing, so this was fine for me, nothing special but it works.
