This spinning rod is very light, portable, and casts long distances despite its small size. The included spinners are well-prepared with leaders attached, making them ready to use straight away. It’s great value for beginners, but the small handle made casting feel unstable at times—I had a few close calls where it almost slipped. While it’s a solid option for those starting out, it’s not the right fit for me, so I’ll be returning it.

It’s a lovely rod. The graphite blank feels really strong and is pleasing to touch. All the hardware looks and feels robust and everything you would expect to be there is there. It has a hook retainer and dense EVA foam handles. I really love the metallic green highlights; it gives the whole thing a classy and sporty look. The reel seat is plastic but it's high quality, dense plastic with a gloss finish and ergonomic shape. Everything is tight and well-engineered, there is nothing rattling around here. It's 5.6ft and has 6 rings. It could do with one more to reduce the angle between rings in the line however it’s not a major drawback. The reel is pretty good too. Like the rod, it's not top end but it is well built, runs smoothly and even comes with line already loaded and a clip on the end which does run through all of the rings. The clutch is satisfyingly clicky and, as found only on better quality reels, this has instant anti-reverse meaning no delay when striking and a better chance of setting the hook. It feels reassuringly tight. The only thing I am not that sold on with the reel is the click out handle. It relies on a sprung button to lock and release and I just think that if this unserviceable part fails then that would be the end of the reel. If you just want to do a bit of spinning for predators then this set is ready to go. It includes a number of spinners and soft lures which are perfectly adequate for pier fishing or perhaps spinning an estuary for Mullet and Bass. This is a really great little set and perfect for keeping in the car or for travelling. The innovative "tent pole" like construction with the elastic through the middle is a real game changer, this is the quickest to put together multi part travel rod I have every used. It's very pleasing with minimum frustration during set up. I genuinely like this rod, it is very well made, functions well and looks good. The price may seem a little high, however, when you look at other multi part travel rod and reel combos in the same market place you see that actually it’s probably about right.

The Amundson Savvy Rider Fishing Combo is a surprisingly light kit that has plenty of room for extras. It weighed only 1.78 lbs with the nylon bag included. There are Velcro straps to hold the collapsed fishing rod in place. There retention sleeves on the rod joints really hold the sections in place well. The rod is very light and flexible. Within the carrying case there are two mesh pockets to place additional wares in. It has a nice set of lures with a breakdown of what would be good for use in spring and summer versus fall or year round. These lures are already on the string. The fish ruler is made out of a durable material for repeated use. There is also included some spare lures. The case for the lures is also very durable with nice padding. Definitely a good kit for beginners! I would like it if the kit also came with a better grip for the end of the rod. Now just need a multi-tool, a knife and a cooler!

The pole is pretty awesome, once you figure out how it works (I was afraid I was going to break it when I first tried folding it up.) The tackle is pretty generic stuff, but I've never been much on using lures and prefer an old fashion hook with bait. The case is simple but seems to be of pretty good quality.
