The rod felt very very cheap, worse than the £20 rods from a UK German supermarket. OH, probably due to packaging being poor, the reels handle was in 6 small pieces. Even with the reel being functional, this product was only ever worth one thing. It's called a refund

I was hoping to do a little fresh water fishing this summer as a way of relaxing but our summer has been a bust so I haven't had the chance, this was ordered in anticipation but so far unused. That said, I have had a good look through the contents of this kit and it really is a great starter kit. I'm not a fisherman so I only have a rough idea of what I will need but this seems to me to have everything required included. On opening, this comes with a handy carry bag along with the telescopic fishing pole and a decent feeling reel. Also included in the set are some lures which look well made and come in different styles for different fish. When opening up the rod, this extends from a very compact and easy to carry unit to a full length rod which has a very fine tip so I would think that it can be used not only for normal fresh water fishing but also for fly fishing. Being unused in the real world I can't say for longevity however to me everything looks well made, the loops on the rod feel like they are fixed firmly in place and the reel spins nicely. Overall, I would say that for any beginner like me that this kit is a superb starter with everything required ready for use. This set is also very practical and easy to carry being telescopic and folding down to such a small size. Recommended.

I recently purchased 2 of these sets.The rod is ok and does its job, the reels must have a fault on them, within 2 days they have both broken in the same way, the nut that holds the bail arm on fell out of both reels and into the water.

For a beginner, this was the perfect kit. The soft shell case can store the fishing rod, included accessories, and fishing line, with ample space for more. There were no instructions included but I found it straight forward for the most part. The reel fits into the grooves on the handle and the parts are tightened to lock it in place. After reading some of the reviews, I did do a once over and tighten everything, and glad I did because some parts were loose. The reel is quite nice for someone who doesn’t fish a lot. It moves smoothly backwards and forwards and didn’t create any issues when casting. The handle also flips down, and it feels very nicely made. The hardest part for me was figuring out how to get the line on the reel. After watching a YouTube video, it was super easy. Assembling the rod only took around 5 minutes, but putting the line on the reel took around 20 minutes when factoring in watching the video. It also included a small hard plastic case with some accessories like hooks, and lures. They didn’t include any of those silver weight things, like I remember as a kid but the hooks provided include built in weights which was nice. I found the best way for shrinking it down, would be to hold the rod with your legs while reeling it in and pulling the rod down in sections. It was a challenge my first time but well worth the portability. I did find the plastic hard case with the accessories was damaged, and the hooks and lures were strung out over the bag when it was received. I also didn’t like that I couldn’t lock the bottom of the rod to have a shorter end, but have gotten used to it now. Overall, you can’t beat the price for this portable fishing rod, and with a little preventative maintenance this rod should last several years.

IT's December and unfortunately not fishing season. I ordered this because it looks like a a nice setup and comes in a compact case for easy storage. I am not a fisherman and i don't know one rod oe reel from the next so take this for what it's worth. I've examined all of the pieces and assembled and disassembled it. It seems like a great set up to keep in the trunk of your car or back of your truck. The current price certainly makes it affordable. The rod extends and retracts easily. Where I am I usually just use worms but there are enough accessories to give me options. I look forward to fishing season and updating the review should the reel not work as advertised.
